When first developing BLOCKS, co-founders Serge and Ali had conflicting visions of the ideal wearable device. Unwilling to compromise but determined to collaborate, they found an elegant solution: modularity. An innovative design that could provide the necessary versatility to accommodate an armoury of ideas and innovations, customizable, adjustable and transformable. BLOCKS was born out of the mission to make technology truly personal. To empower individuals through providing the means for them to build and design a device that is theirs.

Serge Didenko

Chief Executive Officer

Serge Didenko, Co-founder of BLOCKS Wearables Ltd., completed his MEng in Bioengineering at Imperial College London. His avid interest in entrepreneurship led him to spearhead efforts to kickstart the Imperial Innovation Hub, which has since served as a stepping stone for numerous break-through ventures. Following his passion for biomedical technology, Serge went on to study a PhD in Medical Computer Science. Serge's excitement for the potential of new age wearables led him to the inception of BLOCKS, alongside Co-founder Alireza Tahmaseb.

Fred Chak

Chief Operating Officer

Fred's roots are also in London, having completed a BA and MA at Central St Martins, with a focus in Innovation and Design before founding BLOCKS Wearables Ltd., in early 2014. Fred has launched products and marketing campaigns for clients such as Adobe, AT&T, Calvin Klein, Google, HP, IBM, Intel, Jaeger LeCoultre, McLaren, Mercedes Benz, Nokia, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba. Fred's work has won over five dozen international awards, including Reddot best of the best, D&AD Yellow pencil, Webby Awards and LA Movie Awards. Fred has also headed positions at several reputable charities and social organisations such as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Championship Sport WDSA, as well as being the Chairman of the Slough district Scouts in UK.

Omer Elfakir

Head of Product

Omer was one of the founding partners of BLOCKS in early 2014, and his expertise lies in Materials and Product Design. Also an Imperial Alumnus, Omer completed a MEng in Mechanical Engineering. His curiosity in materials and design led him to pursue and complete a PhD in the field, and he continues his research to this day.

Karl Taylor

Head of Engineering

Karl also joined BLOCKS in early 2014 and lead the development of our first functional prototype, before scaling up the engineering team to build a production ready device. Karl is also an Imperial Graduate, having studied a dual degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, with previous experience working at IBM in mobile application software.

The Corgi joined alongside Karl and ever since has assured that all members of the team remain positive and are highly motivated.

Android Systems Engineers

Taipei

We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced candidate for a position as an Android Systems Engineer. The candidate should have demonstrable experience of working with Android Open Source Project builds, across all parts of the stack.

The candidate should be confident working directly with System Applications and Frameworks, with working knowledge of NDK, JNI and the HAL being a big plus.

Knowledge of App Development is desirable, particularly with Android and iOS, as is experience working with react-native.

C++ Developers

Taipei

We are currently looking to fill a range of low-level C/C++ development positions with varying specialities.

Of particular interest are candidates with strong prior experience in working directly with Bluetooth, specifically with Bluetooth Low Energy. Knowledge working with other low level communications is highly desirable, for example I2C, SPI, USB, networking implementations, etc.

We are also specifically seeking engineers with strong knowledge of Linux Kernel development and power optimisation. Candidates should have made a demonstrable contribution to at least one relevant open source project, and have experience working with power usage testing hardware.

All prospective candidates should have a good working knowledge of C and C++, with awareness of modern C++ standards and techniques.

Knowledge of working with AOSP images and Android frameworks is highly desirable.
