Hi everyone, and welcome to the Modules Info Thread! This is the thread for all questions related to modules already developed or planned by BLOCKS. Just in case you didn't know what they are, here is a small list:
- Phase 1 modules, to be released in May 2016 alongside the first shipments of BLOCKS smartwatches to Kickstarter backers and pre-orders: 1) Extra battery module, 2) Heart rate module, 3) GPS module, 4) NFC module, 5) Adventure module.
- Phase 2 modules, planned modules whose development will begin after the fulfillment of all first shipments of BLOCKS: 1) SIM card module, 2) Fingerprint module, 3) LED module, 4) Programmable button module.
- Phase 3 modules, modules the team consider the most interesting to work on in the future: 1) Air quality module, 2) Camera module, 3) Flash memory module, 4) Stress level module, 5) Body temperature module, 6) Expansion module.
Here's a number of common questions this thread will cover:
- Can the [any module mentioned above] do this?
- What are the specs of the [any module mentioned above]?
- When will I be able to buy the [any module mentioned above]?
- Waht do you think about the [any module mentioned above]?

That's an easy one! I don't know which particular sensor they are using (a combo one probably), but it should integrate a thermometer and a barometer, which doubles as a barometric altimeter.

Do you know if the core will becoming with a native app that will show the barometric pressure and altitude?

Yep, there will be an integrated app for the Adventure module, with three tiles showing temperature, pressure, altitude, and a fourth one that seemes to show humidity too. I'm not 100% why this last function isn't advertised by the team. Maybe they changed the sensor inside the module at the last minute, or maybe they deemed measuring humidity near the skin simply too ineffective.

In latest update from BLOCKS there was no mention to modules updates.. does that mean that the list for phase 1 won't change at all? Shouldn't have they shared some more info since survey is coming out soon?

I think so, they would have probably told us something otherwise. The recent change to the battery module was announced, so I suppose other phase 1 modules have remained the same.

Still unknown. They haven't released the full specs of all modules, so there's no way to know which GPS chip they are using for the module. I'll make sure to get all infos in this thread as soon as they become available.
