I saw someone post about this in the February update thread, but can't seem to find it now. What are everyone's thoughts on the lip around the watch face? On most (all?) current smart watches, the watch face is flat across, which I imagine gives the finger maximum freedom to hit all edges of the screen. Is anyone else concerned about this? Does the Blocks team have any insight as to how significantly the lip impedes on finger access, if at all?

I actually feel the watch face lip is a real clever idea and is it helps accomplish 2 things.
1. It adds that extra layer of edge on to the watch which will protect the screen to a certain extent in terms of drops.
2. It gives a sort of definition to the watch in terms of it's looks and aesthetics.
I doubt if it'll case any sort of obstruction as you mention above in terms navigating across the menus and other things on the watch.

I might add that the inner section of the lip tapers nicely towards the display, in order to provide more freedom for the fingers to move on its surface. And as Neil said, it protects the screen. Without it a drop (well, a good one) would cause the display to shatter much more easily, even with Gorilla Glass protection.

I brought up the watch lip in the Feb update..
Alessandro has a point about the taper on the lip giving more finger freedom.. And Neil has a great point about protecting the face itself..
After reviewing the most recent photos again... and again.... and again.. I am getting over it...

I agree with everything mentioned, but it's still in the back of my mind. Have there been any complaints about "non-lipped" smartwatch faces scratching/cracking? Admittedly, I have never looked into the matter, but I've personally never heard of any AppleWatch users complaining about it. The tapering is valuable to point out, as it may be the factor that makes it a non-issue.
Either way, I imagine we'll eventually get a video of the UI and we'll get to see first hand how well it works.
