What are BLOCKS doing to accommodate smaller wrist sizes?

BLOCKS has spent months refining the design to get the perfect size of a smartwatch that would fit comfortably on any wrist. We’re working on multiple sizes of the modules and optimizing them with the help of an adjustable clasp. This ensures that there is a combination of modules that fits all wrists. The wrist sizes will be clearly defined by the time we launch.

What are you doing to ensure there is an extensive library of Apps to support BLOCKS?

We will be releasing our SDK for app developers at least a month before launch, and a select few developers will be allowed to be the first to develop for our platform. That way when we release, there will be plenty of apps to get you started! Also we'll make sure we've got the essential apps covered ourselves.

Do people with smaller wrists have to use less blocks?

People with smaller wrists will probably need 3/4 blocks to fit, although we are working on a highly adjustable clasp to accommodate a bigger variety of wrist sizes. Bear in mind the core itself will contain the same essential functionalities already found in current smartwatches so you wouldn't be missing out so much.

How are the batteries charged?

With a handy detachable micro-USB to USB cable packaged in the box, you simply have to snap your core module into place, with or without the other modules connected, and it’s ready for a charge. To charge your extra battery modules, they will have to be connected to the core, but the option to charge them separately will be made available through a future accessory.

Will each module hold its own software?

Each module does have its own microcontroller inside making it 'smart' - a microcontroller can read and process small bits of data from the sensor inside the module - and then pass it back to the core in a processed format.

Can the modules operate independent of the core?

Some modules such as passive NFC will be able to work independent of the core but most modules will be powered by the core and external batteries.

Where are the nice gold and silver colours you show on the video? Can I buy them?

Wouldn't the specs be outdated by the time the product ships?

With all the modules containing powerful technology individually, would it burn my wrist?

Because of the way we spread out the components of the watch, the heat from the modules is dissipated around the wrist evenly, and you won't have to worry about noticing it, let alone it burning your wrist! The modules all run extremely low power processors which will also limit the amount of power being used.

What Apps will be on the first BLOCKS?

We will have you covered for all of the basic apps at launch. For example, notifications, calendars, notes etc.

How many modules can I use at one time?

The theoretical limit from a software point of view is actually 125 modules, but obviously you won't get anywhere near this in average use!

Yes. We will be developing a Developers Kit that will allow users to develop and test modules with different sensors.
