While it's more along the lines of a gadget/gimmick than an entirely practical idea, having an IR Blaster module to perform basic remote control functions like on/off, volume up/down/mute, channel up/down, etc would be fun.

IR Blaster is useful I have it on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, although I doubt you need a new module for that. The IR blaster is pretty tiny and could/should be incorporated on the core itself.

p.s It might be too late for that, this late into production. I am sure they could come up with a module with IR Blaster along with other similar smaller sensors on 1 module simply to save room.

Perhaps iintegrate with the button module. If the module could support more than one button you can dedicate one to e.g. power on/off

I would love an IR blaster. My television and A/C are both IR and it would save me arguing about where the remotes are.

Personally I would consider integrating an IR blaster with a battery module, but putting in the button module might be easier

Maybe a battery module with an IR blaster and one without cause that would be a lot of IR blasters if you only had battery modules!

IMHO, there are two possible ways to make such a module. 1) A module with both an IR blaster and a receiver inside it, that could be programmed directly by the user but that would require too many components to cram anything else inside it; 2) A module with only the IR blaster inside it, which would require little components and might be made into a combo module with something else. Issue is, we would need either an external receiver (to be connected to a smartphone or a PC) to program commands for the blaster, or an IR commands archive like Logitech has for its Harmony devices.

I'm using Logitech Harmony devices since years. Can you cooperate with Logitech to get a Harmony module ?

An IR blaster would be really cool and useful even if it was just for turning a TV off and on

It's extremely good for lazy people like me who don't even want to stand up to grab the remote control

When you ran into a problem, don't give up.
Most of the time a nice workaround will help you further.
