How will the GUI look. We've all seen the pictures on KickStarter but that doesn't tell us much. How customizeable will the watch faces be or will there be background support instead of that simple black background?

The plan is to make them as customisable as possible. We're actively looking for partners to help with this.

We are also aware of the need to show you guys more software stuff. We will eventually, don't worry we won't leave to the last minute.

Is it planned to give developers the possibility to exchange the launcher with a self-made one?

It is impossible to give each user exactly the GUI he wishes for, so you won't be able to create THE launcher for everybody. Also it is another step to giving the user the freedom of choice (not only in the aspect of hardware but also software). Many people dislike Android Wear for it's "swish and flick" principle, while others love it for exactly that.
You would gather people of both parties, simply by giving others the means to create what they like the most.

Furthermore it should not be a huge amount of work to open this feature to others, since it's essentially integrated into Android.

Custom launchers is actually quite a good idea, but if the UI looks anything like the renders, I'll probably stick with it

I find the GUI quite good, as you can see on the press image there is a large variety of watch faces.
But I hope that developers will make even more watch faces, the team should provide a GUI store.

I'd like to see a watch face maker application. I'm really hoping to be able to have the face show as primarily analog but with the digital time and date discretely displayed as well.
