I just ran into the exact same thing. I ended up going through Gravitar. You can set your avatar here by using your gravatar email address.
Just found a bug with the View latest post button on the forum threads. When clicked, the loading dialog appears and an alert dialog comes up saying: An unknown error has occurred. The console spits out this 404 error:https://www.chooseblocks.xyz/community/thread-19.html&action=lastpost 404 (Not Found).
However, after the alert dialog gets dismissed, the intended action happens. The latest post is opened under the thread head.
Based on the console error, the link is not formatted correctly. The ampersand (&) should be a question mark (?). If you make that change and head to the link, it works fine.
