Please people we need a speaker module. Why is this not a priority?

I don't really see any need for a speaker when the device has Bluetooth capability. I'd personally rather see them lend development efforts to modules that add new features rather than one that can already be achieved through bluetooth connectivity.

I do see the need, but it's not a priority for me. Btw I would get it at launch.

While a speaker module sounds a must want, I've realized it from my past Smart watches that it's a feature I hardly used. While it may seem all cool to talk to your watch, It doesn't really work for me. It's really awkward talking to your watch in public have people hear your conversations. I am sure there are people who would still want this module and I don't see why Blocks can't make one, I don't think it'll take that much development effort to make one.

Can you edit this thread to include a simple poll please.

Do you want a speaker modules.

A. Yes
B. No
C. May be

This will just further help your cause in getting a speaker module. I am sure if there any enough "Yes" responses it will force the Blocks team to escalate it's development to an earlier phase.

i Agree with Neil. a speaker isnt prio. We got bluetooth and revols (another kickstarted i and some others here i think backed) which is very nice in combo with the watch.
i rather see a SD card reader then a speaker one.

Not sure if its possible technical wise in a module but the SDcard module can also be used as a Sim module.
I saw a smartphone with dual sim and 1 slot can be used as Simcard or as SDcard.

I suppose the BLOCKS team made the commercially reasonable choice of starting the development of modules with the most widespread functions first. If you look at Phase 1 modules, they all add functions that most smartwatches already have, plus the extra battery one which is a major sale point of BLOCKS. Modules of Phase 2 add less widespread or more unique functions, and a speaker would probably fit in this Phase. Still, if the team didn't choose to put a speaker module in this phase, is probably because until the campaign there has been little request for it. But hey, BLOCKS is open, so if someone wants to design a speaker module, he's free to do it! I already have a couple of ideas for modules I'd like to build, which is why I'm eagerly waiting for the SDK!

Or even a module with an aux in/mini-hdmi/mini-usb so you could just plug stuff in if whatever it is isn't capable of bluetooth. Just so many possibilities can't wait! Personally speaking a speaker isn't a deal breaker or even something I really care about just...the possibilities!

Yeah, sorry, I can't get behind a speaker for this application. Bluetooth is far more important, IMO.

But once this takes off and developers start adding independent modules, I'd say it's almost certain a speak module will appear.

Yes! Me too. I can't wait to pair my revols with my blocks.

Considering the size of the modules, the speaker would be pretty pathetic power-wise, and have very little bass to it's sound, so other than a loudspeaker for telephone conversations, which the majority of people wouldn't use most of the time if the watch was paired to your phone anyway, it would be a very niche market in my opinion. Definitely one for 3rd party manufacturers down the line
